Rohm and Haas Texas Incorporated site provides support in many key areas including Education, Environment, Civic and Community, Health and Human Services and Arts and Culture. Rohm and Haas Texas site contributes nearly $150,000 to the United Way of Texas to support agencies that provide vital health and human services programs. In addition to the United Way support, Rohm and Haas Texas makes limited grants to organization that provide services to the surrounding community.
As a science and technology company, this site support programs that have a science, environment and/or technology education component. The site also supports programs that promote sustainable development - which educate and promote development that meets the needs of the present society without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
Funding Criteria
The following are the key criteria that the Rohm and Haas Texas site uses to evaluate potential contributions.
- Does the request provide a service to the community within a five-mile radius of the Deer Park, Texas site?
- Does the request have an environment, science, technology education component?
- How can support of the proposed program:
- Strengthen relations with key stakeholders
- Create a clear niche for Rohm and Haas
- Improve the Company's image, reputation and visibility in the communities where it operates
- Are Rohm and Haas employees interested and involved in the proposed program?
- Does the program or organization have broad based community support?
- Does the program/organization have a diversity of other funders (i.e. corporate, foundation and individuals)
Program Exclusions (list may not be comprehensive):
As a matter of policy, the Company does not provide support for the following:
- Organizations that do not have their IRS 501 (c) (3) non-profit tax exempt status
- Multiple grants in a single year: The Company does not provide more than one grant per year to an organization.
- United Way funded agencies: As a leader in support of the United Way in Rohm and Haas Texas generally does not provide additional funding to organizations receiving annual support from the United Way.
- Capital Campaigns: In general, support is not directed toward capital campaigns. Exceptions may be made when an organization's core program is dependent on new or renovated facilities, when the capital project helps the organization increase its earned income, and/or when the project has significant impact on Rohm and Haas employees and their families as well as the general community.
- National organizations including national health funds. (Except programs that are taking place in and directly serving a Rohm and Haas community.)
- Contributions will not be made indefinitely. Even in those instances where multi-year pledges are made, the company retains the right to terminate support, if appropriate.
- Contributions will not be made as a result of telephone solicitations.
- Fundraising events (one-time short term events such as walk-a-thons or dinners except through the Company's Dollars for Doers Program and Team Doers program).
- Religious organizations (except programs used by the entire community on a non-sectarian basis).
- Veterans organizations
- Labor organizations
- Fraternal organizations
- Entertainment groups
- Organizations requesting good will advertising
- Endowment funds
- Individuals
- Political parties or candidates for public office
Application Deadlines:
Applications are accepted and evaluated year-round. All requests receive careful consideration. Funding decisions based on written requests are generally available between six and eight weeks after the request has been received by the Public Relations/Communications Manager.
